The sixth edition of Personal Structures starts on April 23, 2022. Every two years, the exhibit presents artworks by artists and creatives from all over the world, hosted in the European Cultural Centre local venues: Palazzo Bembo, Palazzo Mora, and the Giardini della Marinaressa.
Up to November 27, two hundred participants will exchange views about the concept of “reflection,” in both its meanings: what comes from a reflective surface, and what comes from a reflective mind.

Reflections puts together two different actions: catching a visual effect with the eyes and elaborating a thought by meditating on something. This two kinds of reflections may contain—according to ECC team of curators—the potential to show the possibility and the responsibility of conceiving a better future.

Renowned artists and emerging young talents, photographers and sculptors, along with projects by international academic institutions, confront each other on this theme in the prestigious venues of the ECC, which gives also the chance to visit two historical palaces located in different areas of the city, always in the heart of Venice, and a characteristic garden facing the Bacino di San Marco (St. Mark basin).
The entrance is free in all the venues of the exhibit.

Participants will gather in this city so rich in history, art, and culture, each one with their own unique way of expression, to have their voices heard through different means and techniques. Like mirrors, they will reflect what surrounds us in the present time as well as, again, consciously reflect on what the future will bring. Moreover, the exhibited artworks will reflect the visions of artists coming from different cultures and parts of the world.

ECC is proud to present more than 192 participants this year, with a selection of emerging and well-known artists and institutions, from more than 51 countries, and a main and unprecedented participation of female representation. During the seven-month exhibition, a series of meetings, performances, and workshops will take place with the purpose of starting a dialogue between the latest creations, ideas, and thoughts in the field of contemporary art.

In order to meet the difficulties of current times, the European Cultural Centre continues presenting its events both on site and on line. Along with its YouTube channel and its social pages, the ECC is developing a new website dedicated to Personal Structures, which will feature all the exhibited artworks, the complete list of participants, virtual tours, and a downloadable version of the catalogue. This will give visitors from everywhere in the world the chance to easily connect with and follow Personal Structures.
