In Venice, classical music lovers cannot miss the regular appointment with the concerts of I Musici Veneziani at Scuola Grande San Teodoro (campo San Salvador, Rialto) where Vivaldi and the most iconic composers of the Baroque period are the protagonist.
Formed in 1999, the orchestra I Musici Veneziani (flute, oboe, clarinet, two violins, viola, cello, double bass and harpsichord) present to the audience an event with excellent music, which is also a true jump back in the sumptuous past of the Serenissima Republic, thanks to the exquisite 18th-century costumes and jewels worn by all the musicians, and to the unique location: the wonderful Salone Capitolare (Chapter house) of the Scuola Grande di San Teodoro.
Two programs are regularly performed on several days, during all the year: a tribute to Antonio Vivaldi with The Four Seasons and The Three Tenors, Baroque and Opera in Venice a fusion between the most beautiful arias of the great Italian opera and the most famous concerts of the Baroque tradition.

The Scuola Grande San Teodoro: left, the façade; right, the Salone Capitolare (Chapter House)
The Scuola Grande di San Teodoro, dedicated to the first patron of Venice, was built from 1580 on the initiative of the brotherhood made up of merchants and artisans who, at that time, was a guest at the Church of San Salvador. The initial plan by Simone Sorella, later was expanded by Francesco and Tommaso Contin.
The Salone Capitolare (Chapter House) was designed by Baldassare Longhena and adorned with paintings from the XVII and XVIII century by Vassilacchi, Jacopo Palma il Giovane, Balestra, Bassano.
Like all the Scuola Grande institutions in Venice, the Scuola Grande San Teodoro was born with a social, charitable and educational purpose. During the centuries, it then became a flour warehouse, a public dormitory, the headquarters of the political Venetian archive, a commercial museum and also a cinema.
Today it is a prestigious venue for events, exhibits and, of course, a wonderful concert hall.
