Italy is a land of tourist hospitality – it releases curiosity, sensations, and amazement. It is at the same time the land of origin for many people whose ancestors were born here and emigrated from here. For their descendants, Italy is a source of emotion and affection that is unleashed when the roots of their history, often distant, are experienced firsthand and come to life in the soul of the man or woman who touches them for the first time.

This is the case for Louis Emory, a charismatic singer-songwriter and frontman who grew up in an Italian-American family, who after a long-awaited journey to the past, has plunged into his roots from Rome to Florence to Venice. The musical sensations and emotions from the long-awaited “trip along Italy” have given life to Love Italy, a captivating travel fresco in the form of a six-track EP. The EP was released worldwide on October 21, 2022. Created by appreciated New York musicians, it is full of ancient histories and immediate sensations: a fresh, modern soundtrack, arranged with nothing less than the magical help of the famous producer, audio engineer and mixer Shelly Yakus, who polished and co-mixed the tracks.

«I hope the music is a way for people to feel connected and keep a little piece of it [Italy] alive in their hearts,» Louis shares as we meet in Venice. He focuses on the realization of this EP – a wish fulfilled, an unexpected appreciation of Italy and its people — which has triggered a desire for new discoveries in our country.

«After dreaming of visiting the country for many years, I managed to do it in 2017,–he explains–The trip sparked an incredible attraction and passion for Italian history and culture. “I started reading books on the Renaissance, art, the architecture, the Medici and the history of Florence, Venice and Rome. And so, when the pandemic started here in Italy, I started writing about it for the first time, not planning on making an entire EP yet, but simply wanting to share my admiration for the country, with its rich history and such welcoming people.”

With historical Italian references woven into American-infused rock, the Love Italy EP is the debut project from Emory’s band, Louis Emory and The Reckless Few. Composed of a small group of talented multi-instrumentalists, “The Reckless Few” include Tim Lynch (Piano / Organ, Accordion) and Bob Boyer (Drums, Guitar and Bass, Slide, Percussion, Backing Vocals). Additionally, Georgia Jones provides powerful backing vocals on “Roma,” “La Serenissima,” “Firenze,” and “La Primavera,” while Jasmine Van Regenmortel (aka “Jazz”) adds backing vocals to “Oh Tuscany” and plays the violin on “La Serenissima.”

The excellent quality of the production can be attributed to the active presence of Shelly Yakus, to whom Louis is very grateful: «I am an absolute fan of his incredible craftsmanship and his ear! He’s worked with some of my biggest influences, like John Lennon, Tom Petty, Bob Seger, and The Band. In short, he’s part of the soundtrack of our lives.»
