Performances in bars, restaurants, clubs, and hotels follow various formulas, from the actual concert, to the quieter accompaniment to dinner. Musicians often perform in small formations, but there is plenty of occasions to appreciate larger groups as well.
The genres offered vary widely, ranging from jazz to folk, blues to reggae, pop to soul, and contemporary ethnic music, depending on the artist(s) performing that night.

Please note that, in compliance with neighborhood and municipal regulations, in Venice loud music must cease by 11 p.m., which is generally (but not always) also the time when the concert ends.

VJC VENICE JAZZ CLUB (Santa Margherita)
Live music Tuesday through Saturday.
Active now for several years, the VJC obviously offers jazz concerts, from the most classic standards to reinterpretations of modern pieces. The VJC quartet is often joined by a few special guests.

The Eco Osteria Laguna Libre, overlooking the canal of Cannaregio, is the official Jazz Club of the Venice Jazz Festival, whose various events it hosts throughout the year. It also has its own live music calendar. Performances often have a dual aperitif-concert and/or dinner-concert format and take place either outdoors or indoors.

HARD ROCK CAFE VENICE (San Marco)

Opened in 2009, it is located just 10 meters from St. Mark’s Square, with its panoramic windows overlooking the “Bacino Orseolo.” Certainly, the Hard Rock Cafe needs no introduction. In addition to the regular live music on Thursdays from 10 to 11 p.m., it often hosts special events with national and international artists.

Every evening, Venezia Catamaran Cruises’ 64-foot sailing catamaran turns into a jazz boat, cruising Giudecca Channel and the lagoon. The spacious catamaran with large bar and even a dance floor can host up to 50 guests and provides stunning views with a great atmosphere.
Their “Sunset Jazz Cruise with Aperitivo and Live Saxophone” leaves at 20:00. The Venice by Night Cruise, leaving at 22:00 also included live saxophone plus a mix of recorded swing and latin music that frequently gets people to dance. (different times in spring & autumn, check their website)
