Borders Art Fair features paintings, sculptures, photography, installations, video art, and live performance, and at the same time represents a forum for direct exchange of ideas and contacts between collectors, artists, and art professionals. The festival focuses on the concept of “human and urban borders”, how people live them and how they are modified in contemporary society, all through the artworks of the most renown artists and the best emerging talents in the world.

Presented by Itsliquid Group, in collaboration with Venice Events and ACIT Venice (Italian-German Cultural Association), the 2021 edition of Borders Art Fair is divided into three appointments: BODIES+CITIES SKIN, FRAGMENTED IDENTITIES and FUTURE LANDSCAPES.

The second appointment, FRAGMENTED IDENTITIES will be held at THE ROOM Contemporary Art Space from July 12 to August 01, 2021, and at Palazzo Albrizzi-Capello from July 13 to August 01, 2021.

The exhibition analyzes human beings as a living mosaic composed of many different pieces. In art, people are mixed together in a melting pot of sensation and fluctuating emotions. The challenge is to look at all these fragmented identities, recognize and use them to see things through different points of view in order to break barriers and boundaries.

Mariko Kumon, “Goodness or badness (with smell)”

In art, as in life, perspective is never fixed nor unique, and things are rarely whole or perfect. So, participating artists were invited to work on the multiple layers of identity. A multiplicity which is immediately perceived by the spectator who looks at different art forms and techniques, from photography to painting, calligraphy, sculpture, video and performing art, installations.

The result is a heterogeneous yet coherent exhibition that shows how our fragmented identities, in fact, are produced by the contact with other human beings, in the past, the present, and in different contexts.
